Key Objectives
- Develop simulation model input data:
- Fluid properties tables based on PVT report or black-oil correlation.
- Hydraulic tables using Integrated Production Modeling tool (IPM – Prosper).
- Capillary pressure and displacement functions from SCAL report.
- Construct or update simulation models: determine appropriate layering and gridding, extract properties from geologic model and scale-up to simulation grid, initialize, history match and run prediction cases.
- Understand the application and limitations of surveillance data for history matching – MDT, Rates, Pressures, Production logs, Surveillance data, etc.
- Display, interpret and export simulation results; communicate reservoir behavior to geologists and reservoir engineers.
- Collaborate with geologists and reservoir engineers on model inputs and share insights from the dynamic simulation.
- Implement well operations and production strategies in simulator.
- Update simulation models by integrating all available Lab and surveillance data, and geologic models, etc.
- Study development strategies and/or options, such as development mode (water/gas injection), well type/patter/spacing, reservoir management strategies.
- Prepare the long-term development and reservoir management programs as part of the annual and longer-term work plans through cooperation with Geo/Dev Planning/Drilling/Major Projects/Ops Dept. etc.
- Develop progress reports against agreed work plans, prepare contingency plans and recommend changes to the work plan based on findings.
- Predict production profiles for WPnB, 5-Yr outlook and for long term, and coordinate effort with all pertinent parties.
- Investigate subsurface uncertainties and mitigation, design development pilot and evaluate their performance, and propose reservoir appraisal activities.
- Identify capacity enhancement opportunities (such as waterflood optimization, workovers, infilling wells, and projects).
- Propose new well opportunities/placement, assist new well geological design, planning and post-drilling evaluation.
- Assist Reservoir Management Team to resolve production issues (such as poor waterflood response, early water breakthrough, etc.).
- Provide relief for group lead as applicable.
- Adhere to professional engineering standards and practices.
- Train and mentor less experienced staff
